The room called “Awakening” hosted the double solo show by French artists SANDRA DETOURBET & NICOLAS GASIOROWSKI for a visionary face-to-face. Both of them have a styling roots by Artaud’s memory. The concept of Artaud was in fact, to be guided by a body without organs, namely, I mean to arise through a multivalent and paradoxical process of expulsion and appropriation, and of creating and un-creating.
Sandra Detourbet was born in 1967 in the North of France and currently she works and live in Ivry-sur-Seine next to Paris. She is the daughter of a French father and a German mother. She taken part in numerous exhibitions and live performances in France and abroad. She works with different materials: she addresses and represents cages and entire bodies or fragments as formal requirements for referential poetics. For artist, the body is a sounding board of emotions and illusions that she experiences in her everyday life. The artist meditates on Platonic conception, and also, she deals with the metaphor of the “body-soul’s cage”; she exceeds in the awareness of living body as experiential cognition center of the world and as emotional language. Her works are abstract and concrete, they are limit and trespassing at the same time, they are maternal and erotic, they are sensual and disturbing bodies in their prime, they living in the image, in the myth, in the moment in which they appear.
Nicolas Gasiorowski was born in 1958, lives and works in Ivry-sur-Seine, next to Paris in France. He began drawing at the age of 10. He taken part in numerous exhibitions and live performances in France and abroad. Admitted to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1979, he left a year later, preferring solitary learning. Nicolas Gasiorowski’s artworks consists of about fifty pages of a book. Each page is a artwork with painting and represents the iconic bodies, a kind of a “vexata-questio”, about the meaning and value of the body and on reflection of “being there” in the world, “here and now”. The artist’s language is multifaceted and evolving: inspired by a body-mask of identity and otherness are not defined, where we can see instincts and impulses, physicality and coated evocations of earthly transiency.
Both of them works in visual performances with experimental theatre as “LES CHARLOWSKI & BB BLUE/TENDER AND WHITE“. A sound and performing journey in the music and contemporary art. Images, sounds and projections of artworks.
